About Shahi Swaad: 25 years of catering from Ramgarh, Panchkula
Shahi Swaad is Baljeet Singh's kitchen. It started in Ramgarh cooking for weddings, paths and family functions. Twenty-five years later the same kitchen feeds weddings across the Chandigarh Tricity and sends bulk sweets across North India.
How did one Ramgarh kitchen become a Tricity caterer?
Five chapters, one thread. The years and details are being filled in from Baljeet's own diaries, so nothing here is guessed.
Where did Shahi Swaad start?
In Ramgarh, Panchkula, cooking for weddings, paths and family functions in the neighbourhood. Word of mouth did the rest.
How it began, in Baljeet's words: from BaljeetWhen did the big weddings come?
From family functions to full North Indian weddings: roka and sagan, mehndi, the wedding day and the reception, each with its own menu.
The first large wedding: from BaljeetWhen did bulk sweets and bulk food start?
Ladoos and pinni by the kilo for weddings and festivals, and daily meals for factories and sites. See bulk sweets and bulk food.
Which sweets are made in-house: from BaljeetWhat does Shahi Swaad do today?
Weddings and events across the Tricity and nearby towns, bulk food for sites, and bulk sweets across North India, still from the Ramgarh kitchen.
Photos show dishes and mood, not a specific event.
Baljeet's story in his own words goes here: why he started, the first wedding he cooked, and what he tells every new cook. Taken word for word from a recorded call.

What does a good caterer promise?
Draft wording. Baljeet will confirm or rewrite each line.
The last guest eats as hot as the first.
Food is planned so the reception at eleven at night tastes like the lunch at one: counters go live in turns, not all at once.
A Jain plate is never an afterthought.
Jain guests get food planned for them from the start, not the veg dishes with the onion picked out.
The price is written down before the wedding.
You get a per-plate quote in writing for your menu and guest count, so there is no argument on the day.
Cook for the guests you have.
Quantities are planned per dish from your guest count and the time of day, so food does not run short or go to waste.
The family tastes it before the guests do.
Menus are fixed with the family, dish by dish, so the wedding food is the food you chose.
Want Baljeet to cook for your family?
Tell us the date, the guests and the kitchen. Baljeet replies on WhatsApp with a menu and a per-plate price.
Don’t worry, we will take care of you
Tell us how many guests you have and how much you can spend. Baljeet plans a full, proper menu around that amount. He says plainly what it covers, with no hidden extras, whether it’s a 40-guest path at home or a 600-guest wedding.
